ShopGenieAI is a Kiwi-made AI-powered gift recommendation service, operated by an individual based in New Zealand. This Privacy Policy explains how personal information is collected, used, and protected when using the ShopGenieAI app or website at shopgenieai.com.

By using ShopGenieAI, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

ShopGenieAI is intended for users aged 13 and older. By using the app or website, you confirm that you are at least 13 years of age.

Personal information from children under 13 is not knowingly collected. If it comes to light that a child under 13 has submitted personal information, that information will be deleted promptly. To report a concern, use the contact email at the bottom of this page.

Only information that helps generate better gift recommendations is collected. Here is exactly what that includes:

• First name — used to personalise the experience during a session
• Email address — only if you choose to receive your results by email. This is entirely optional.
• Quiz answers — who you are buying for, vibe, budget, occasion, and interests. Used solely to generate gift recommendations.
• Click activity — which product links are tapped, used to improve recommendation quality over time

Payment information, precise location data, device identifiers, and sensitive personal information are not collected.

Personal information is used for the following purposes only:

• Generating personalised gift recommendations
• Sending results to your email address if requested
• Improving the quality of AI-generated recommendations over time
• Understanding which products and retailers are most useful to users

Providing an email address is completely optional. If you choose to receive gift recommendations by email, your address will be stored securely via Brevo (the email service provider) and used to send your results.

Occasional updates about ShopGenieAI may be sent. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.

Email addresses are not shared with advertisers or third-party marketers.

The following trusted third-party services are used to deliver ShopGenieAI. Each has their own privacy policy:

• Supabase — secure database storage for click tracking and app functionality
• Brevo — email delivery service for sending gift results
• Anthropic (Claude AI) — AI engine that generates gift recommendations
• Brave Search — used to find product images and retailer information
• Netlify — hosting provider for the app and website

None of these providers are permitted to use your data for their own marketing purposes.

Data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption. Supabase is used for database storage, with Row Level Security (RLS) enabled to protect data at the database level.

Data is retained only as long as necessary to provide the service and improve recommendations. To request deletion of your data, contact the privacy email below and it will be removed within 5 working days.

Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of personal information held about you
• Correction — ask for inaccurate information to be corrected
• Deletion — request that personal information be deleted
• Complaint — lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner if you believe your privacy rights have been breached
